Wildlife OnVideo Moose behaviour in rut – Courtship
Here are the most beautiful elk bulls courting during the elk rut. When female elk enter estrus, the herd bull adopts a different courtship behavior than when he’s in the herd. He approaches cows slowly and cautiously, antlers erect and tongue out, doing all he can to seduce them. If a cow isn’t ready to mate, she’ll back away, head down, wriggling her neck from side to side, and the bull will immediately stop courting her. Cows will tolerate and accept the herd bull’s behavior when they’re ready.
