The craziest part of this hunt is that it took place just a few days after I killed Roman in Ohio. I knew I had to go to Illinois because we’re in the middle of the red moon, and I got the trail cam photos I needed to confirm that T-Post was up and about and it was time to go and hunt him. T-Post was located on a new farm that my friend Mark and I had just bought the previous autumn. We hadn’t had a chance to hunt much the previous year, but while we were out hunting in the spring, we found huge sheds for this deer. Immediately, this helped develop our relationship with this deer, and it was all the more special to me as it was on the farm we’d just bought. We set up a Big Tine food plot in the back corner of this bean field and there was a tree in the middle of the plot that was perfect for a mock black widow baiting. I had set up a scratch trap on this plot, with the tree in the middle of the plot and another tree at the edge of the field. I spent a great night in the tree and just before dark, T-Post came out of the wood and was hitting the two false traps I’d made and the rest is history! (tagsTranslate)Hunting
