Moose in rut New footage 2023

Welcome to Moose & Coffee and to the presentation of some of our new images from the last two weeks. Flat Top begins, along with a new young male we call TJ at 1:14 seconds.

Libby captured a beautiful mama moose with her baby a few weeks ago, and the clip ends with our friend Cowboy at the end. You’ll remember our recent post about him, where one of our fans, Karen D., noticed him and asked about his cowlicks on his forehead, which led to photo comparisons and a positive identification of the animal. It was great.

As for the current situation, it’s September 2 and things are generally behind schedule due to unusual weather earlier. The start of the rut is about a week late, which is unusual. We’ve pretty much confirmed that 22, DT and Boris are gone, and we’re afraid Left Hook has had a tough winter. Swagger arrived with less volume and less wood. He was a brute of a bull last season, but he seems several hundred kilos lighter today.

It’s certainly the changing of the guard here. There are plenty of big young bulls in the mix, and it could get very interesting very quickly.

Thank you for watching our channel. We’re the husband/wife team of Rick and Libby Libbey, (Libby squared), New Hampshire (and part-time Alaska) wildlife photographers. In New Hampshire, we spend many of our spring and summer kayaking hours photographing loons and elk in New Hampshire waters.

In autumn, we travel many miles in Alaska in search of all kinds of wildlife.
